Traditions run strong and a warm island welcome awaits you at the Borrodale Hotel in Daliburgh, a small crofting village close to South Uist’s main township of Lochboisdale.

Borrodale Hotel – at the centre of a community

Enjoy peaceful relaxation and friendly efficient service in tranquil surroundings at the Borrodale Hotel, a comfortable, small hotel with a good deal of character. There’s a friendly and pleasantly relaxed, homely feel to the property.

The hotel is centrally situated for explorations of South Uist, being 10 miles (25 minutes) from the Eriskay ferry terminal (for Barra) and about 16 miles (also about 25 minutes) from the causeway to Benbecula.

Locally, the lane beside the Borrodale Hotel will take you through the crofting community to reach extensive open machair and sandy beaches.  St. Peter’s RC church (which featured on ‘An Island Parish’) is on the same road and worth a visit for it’s attractive interior.  Fifteen minutes drive north brings you to Howmore, a village of traditional Hebridean houses (some thatched) another attractive Church and delightful machair/beach.

Accommodation at Borrodale Hotel

Bedrooms vary in style, according to their location in the hotel – sloping ceilings in some of them add a touch of cottage atmosphere, but may restrict headroom.  All are tastefully presented and offer en-suite facilities, TV and hospitality tray.

Dining

A full Scottish or continental breakfast is included.

You can choose to dine in the airy conservatory or the traditional hotel dining room – or even take a light meal in the comfortable lounge bar.

Relax, perhaps with after dinner coffee, in the residents’ lounge, which has plenty of soft furnishings and a warm cosy environment.

“Great service and food – Stayed here for one night on a Hebrides trip. We had a warm welcome when we arrived and had a really comfortable quiet room. Evening dinner was great with good service. Would certainly stay here again on a return trip.” – a TripAdvisor member.
